Ghayal – One of my Favourite Movie

Was watching the movie GHAYAL yesterday on Zee Cinema. I dont know how many times I have seen this movie but everytime I watch it, it is with the same interest. Almost every thing about this movie is awesome the story, direction, performances, direction etc. Agreed the music is not great but this is not a musical or a love story.

Performances of all the actors in this movie are memorable. Right from Hero (Sunny Deol) to a small part played by Anu Kapoor (of Antakshiri). I think the story and direction of Raj Kumar Santoshi was amazing. The way he carried and directed the movie was superb.

I would say that Sunny Deol’s performance in Ghayal is the best among all his movies though he was equally good in movies like Damini and Arjun. Amrish puri and Om puri gave the best of the performances.

The movie picturises every thing Emotions, Sentiments, Corruption, Politics, Drugs etc.

I don’t like watching movies with sentiments and high emotions but this movie is definatley an exception.

No wonder Ghayal dominated 1990’s filmfare awards by taking away  Best Actor, Best Film, Best Story, Best Director, Best Art Director, Best Cinematographer awards.

British University honors Amitabh Bachan with Doctorate

Amitabh Bachan is being given honorary degree of Doctorate of Arts by Leicester University for his contribution to the Indian Cinema.

Amitabh, an ambassador for UNICEF will receive the degree at the graduation ceremony of the De Montford University at Leicester on July 19.

I think this is one of the big achievements for the superstar Big B. No doubt fans of Bachan across the globe will be delighted to know this. I think Amitabh as an actor has contributed in heaps to Indian Film Business and he thoroughly deserves this honor.

Rang De Basanti – The Movie

Watched “Rang De Basanti” this weekend. This movie is no doubt awesome. Music from maestro A R Rahman is too good. After watcing the movie I was like thinking What I have done to my country till date?? I was infact feeling Guilty thinking that I have taken independence for granted. The facts shown in the movie correct to a large extent.

All these years of my life just passed by. Enjoyed my university and school days. And once was out of education Job hunt started and then responsibilities came in. Found no time for the country. When I was in school at least used to pay respects on Independence & Republic days. But nothing of that sort. I think every one of us have moral responsibility of making our country a better place. These words are so easy to write but so difficult in real life. But definately one day I will contribute towards the development and betterment of my country in some way or other. Hope that day comes soon :)  Posted by Picasa

Hips Don’t Lie…..

I was watching the song “HIPS DON’T LIE” of Shakira last night for the first time. I dont know from which album this song is from but the way this Diva(shakira) was dancing it was delight to watch. The agility with which she dances is amazing. Boy, I always enjoy her songs especially the way she dances.
